About Dance Resource

Dance Resource, LLC, brings the vitality, energy and excitement of dance to schools, communities, and businesses. The company was founded in 2003 and is directed by professional dancer and dance education consultant, Nancy Salmon. The company works to expand dance education and performance in Maine and beyond and to use dance movement as a tool for developing positive working relationships among colleagues in schools, business and industry.

With the development of national and statewide education goals it is necessary for schools and communities to expand performing arts learning opportunities for all students. However there are challenges:

  • easy access to dance artists and educators is a challenge since the demise of professional dance companies in Maine (and nationally) and the reduction of grants available to schools for touring and residency artists.
  • new educational assessment and reporting requirements have drained flexible time from teachers and curriculum coordinators, making it impossible for them to identify artists and plan visits, residencies or enrichment programs.

Concurrently, business concerns are seeking ways to attract and retain creative, motivated workers and leaders to their companies.

Dance Resource addresses these challenges. Dance Resource

  • researches and contracts with appropriate dance artists/educators
  • plans and delivers learning-filled, physically engaging, creative dance curricular activities for students of all ages
  • develops workshops specific to the stated needs for teachers, community members and business leaders and employees.
  • provides training and employment for dance artists/educators, thus expanding the pool of experienced dance artists in the state.

Dance Resource, LLC, connects schools and communities with dance and dancers, for the betterment of our young citizens, community cohesion, and the growth and health of our economic community.

Schools, communities and childcare programs can contact Dance Resource for assistance when seeking dance artists/educators, planning residencies and artists visits which could include classes for students, dance integrated with other discipline topics, creative movement curriculum or integrated curriculum development, professional development workshops for teachers and staff, or seeking dance performances for school assemblies or to complete a performance series.

Businesses and industries looking for ways to increase employee satisfaction, retention and healthy habits can contact us for workshops to address specific issues.

Dance artists/educators who want to qualify for our roster and be considered for artist-in-residence work through Dance Resource may contact us at dancresource@suscom-maine.net.

Dance Resource provides a calendar of dance performances and workshops in and around Maine, information about grants that support dance/dance education, as well as job opportunities for dance professionals.
